Western Wear Trend – Fall 2021

Five Ways to Incorporate Western Wear Trends into Your Wardrobe…Start with Cowgirl Boots

The western wear style of this season is equipped with fringe, cow print, straight-cut jeans, and prairie dresses. Classic western elements marry modern looks with a western flare. Grab some suededenim, and cow spotted fabric, and get ready to get inspired. I must admit that I’m stepping into this trend lightly. I do love and own many fringed items and love all things faux leather, faux suede and straight-cut jeans. (To see a previous blog post on the faux leather trend, click HERE.) Prairie dresses aren’t for me…I don’t think. I am always open to try new things but I’m currently taking a pass on this trend. I’ve heard many refer to it as “The Little House on the Prairie” Look. However, I’ve seen it look so cute on some. In order to dabble in this trend, I purchased some cowgirl boots! My first pair and I LOVE them! Look 1: Cowgirl Boots, Color Block Flannel and Shorts

One of my favorite fall activities that is an absolute must do for me is going to the local pumpkin farm: Sugar Grove Pumpkin Farm. They have the absolute cutest set up! This year I met the owner Mikaya; and she was so friendly and of course welcoming. If you live in my area, add this location to your must visits in the fall. Now onto what I wore to the pumpkin farm. The weather was absolutely beautiful! It was one of those sunny, warm with a slight breeze fall days that allowed me to wear my ombre denim shorts. Flannel is an easy match with all things denim and gives off a western vibe! This color blocked flannel seemed like the perfect top accessorized by my statement necklace and blinged out cowgirl belt!

Look 2: Cowgirl Boots, Jeans, Skull Tank

Pairing my cowgirl boots with black jeans, my lace skull tank and lace zip up cardigan for a Halloween Western Vibe is look 2. This seemed liked a fun look for the Halloween season and gave me another reason to wear my boots! I’ve had these pieces in my closet for quit some time.

Look 3: Cowgirl Boots, Denim Dress and Jacket

This denim dress is new along with my boots! The frayed hem at the bottom and on the cuff of the sleeves along with the faded denim adds some interest. The oversized fit is great for covering any midsection flaws although I felt as though it was a lot of material so I opted to layer on my jacket and belt it to give a more defined midsection. Initially, I thought the dress might be too short as I’ve mentioned before I’m tall (5’8″). As long I didn’t bend over, I was fine. To complete the look, I added the same statement necklace that I’m wearing in the pictures with my shorts and flannel. Additionally, I like to pop my collar. (It’s a style trick/tip to flatter you neck. To see a blog post on popping up your collar, click HERE.) I can envison layering this dress over leggings in the winter and even adding a sweater over the dress. How would you style this denim dress and boots?

Look 4: A Shacket, Jeans, Graphic T-Shirt and Cowgirl Boots

The shacket trend is going strong this fall/winter season! This yellow shacket with the fringe detail pockets grabbed my attention immediately when Mr. FTF and I were on our annual fall get away to Saugatuck, MI. (To see a previous blog about the shacket trend, click HERE.) One of my favorite stores to show while there is Glik’s, which sadly isn’t in my neck of the woods. Did I need another shacket? Of course I didn’t but the fringetastic pocket detail and yellow sold me. Pairing it with this “Stay Wild” t-shirt and adding my blingtastic cowgirl belt completed my look! I ordered the t-shirt from Sikeology although I did see it in Holland, MI. It was one of those “wish I would have gotten it moments” so I had to search the Internet or it. The black 7 for All Mankind jeans have been in my closet for several years. Along with my rhinestone cowgirl belt, I added some rhinestone earrings and necklace…just call me Rhinestone Cowgirl!

Look 5: Shelbee on the Edge

You’ll recognize Shelbee from my monthly participation and collaboration for Stylish Monday’s and Link Up Party. Here’s how Shelbee styled her new white cowgirl boots!

I have been obsessed with cowgirl boots and western styles for as long as I can remember. The vibe goes perfectly with my wild bohemian soul. Back in August, I randomly bought a $1 scratch off lottery ticket after a particularly bad weekend and I won $5,000! After using most of the money wisely, I did treat myself to a new pair of cowgirl boots. I have been wanting a white pair and when Julie mentioned she was also in the market for white cowgirl boots, it was just the nudge I needed to go for it. This is my 10th pair of cowgirl boots in my ever growing collection and I took them out for their inaugural spin on a girl date. You can read about that fun experience on my blog.

Julie, I absolutely love all the ways you have styled your fabulous new cowgirl boots! I need some sparkly ones now! Beware…now that you have your first pair, it really does become an addiction. Your pumpkin farm photos are so much fun and I love those ombre shorts. Too cool. I also really love the denim dress with that cute frayed hem. This was so much fun styling our boots together! It’s funny because I was looking at your photos and thinking that your boots look a tad taller than mine which I love and then I dismissed it telling myself that you were likely much shorter than me so naturally the boots would hit higher on your leg. But now I know that you are actually more than an inch taller than me! So now I also need to find myself some taller cowgirl boots. See…addiction!

      Hi Shelbee!

I’m so glad that we decided to do this together! It is really out of my normal styling but so fun to try something new and discover that I like it! I do believe you’re absolutely right as I’ve already gotten my second pair of cowgirl boots. They’re black, booties and sparkly! More styling fun to come!Yes, I’m tall so they’re a great height and I love that the calves fit me loosely! What shall we style next?
